New tree

Our Ash tree has been cut down because of the fear it could be attached by the emerald ash borer bug.  So at the moment our front yard looks a little empty.  We were able to choose what tree we could get.  Our first choice is a bi-color oak bottom tree, commonly known as a swamp white oak tree.  They are hardy tree which grow fairly quickly for a oak.  They can  get very large.  Our  second choice is a hackberry, middle tree, it is a common urban tree, also very hardy and quick growing.  Does not grow as large as the oak.  30 to 50 feet tall.  It will be nice to have a new tree in our front yard courtesy of the city of Eagan.   (The tree actually was looking pretty sickly, so that is why they cut it down.  The other ash trees will be treated with a chemical to fight the emerald ash borer bug disease.)

The city cut it down because it might get sick? that seems kind of strange. Why not leave the healthy trees until they show signs of sickness?
