Dessert bake-off at work
I thought it was about time that I updated my blog. It has been a while. Being the co-chair of social activities at work, we try to have a team building fun activity quarterly. Our dessert bake-off is now in the second year. I was able to take the lead. I enjoy the design aspect and I though that it would be fun to have a 'french atmosphere'. With that inspiration and since by budget is $00.00, I being a resourceful person checked out the furniture warehouse that I work in and gathered supplies. For the murals I used cardboard, the balcony was made from a damaged footboard that was cut down to size. The canopy was made with scrap lumber and packing material. I do not know it can tell, but the white canopy is made of bubble wrap. It is amazing what you can do, when you put your imagination to work. I was fortunate to win with my famous English Trifle. Linda won with this amazing chocolated fudge ice cream cake and Roger won with cut out sugar cookies with frosting. It was so much fun, and I was on an adrenaline high all day long. The next activity I am working on is a Employee Appreciation Dinner which will be held at Cedarvale Lanes. We will be having a catered dinner, program and of course bowling. Enjoy the pics!

Chili Cook-off @ Schneiderman's
Some fun facts about chili. I am not sure how much you can read, but chili originated in San Antonio, Texas. Jails were rated by the chili that was served to the inmates. Equal amounts of meat and peppers were used. Chili was a meal that was used by the poorest of people. Chili Queens were latino women who would make chili at home and serve it at the Military Plaze (The Alamo) for about 200 years. It was very fascinating to learn some new facts. Unfortunately my battery for my camera went dead and I was not able to capture any more photos.

For work I am in charge of quarterly activities with my co-worker Ronnie. We have started a tradition that on Halloween we have a chili cook-off with prizes. I am in charge of decorating and Ronnie and I are both in charge of publicity. Since I have access to lots of cardboard, I was able to make a lot of props. It was quite festive and everyone had a good time. I even came in 3rd for my chili recipe.
