Spring is here!

Finally it is here!  Couldn't help but spend part of the day outside enjoying the warm weather .  It was in the mid 60's.  Of course chores needed to be done, but with the nice weather is was a treat.  Buckthorn by our lilacs was cut back again, and sprayed along with many saplings trying to lay claim to the area.  The windows on the front of the house are clean.  Not one of my favorite jobs, but so worth it when it is done.  I have included a few signs of spring from our yard.

Claude Monet

I am a fan of Impressionist Art. I found this print at Goodwill for $1.oo and I love it. It hangs proudly in my bathroom. It is a painting done by Claude Monet of his place in Giverny, France. It was his home where a lot of his paintings were done. He had a large garden and the lily pond. Ed and I were able to visit the garden about 10 years ago. It is very beautiful.

Dark Victory

This is a movie filmed in 1939 with Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart. It is about a woman (Bette) who has a inoperable brain tumor that is told that she is fine only to find out that she is terminal. It is done very well. A very good film.

The Devil and Daniel Webster

I love old movies. this movie was on Turner last week or so. I believe it was filmed in 1941. It was about a man whose crops was failing, had a young wife and mother to take care of. He made a deal with the devil. His life at first became very prosperous and good, but as time passed he changed and the devil had more control over him. I would recommend this movie. Very good.

Evening ride

Kristina and I went on a short ride to Minnehaha Falls and around Lake Nokomis. The weather was great, a little humidity in the air. I have met my match with riding with Kristina, she is a powerhouse and helps me to ride faster. After a long week at work this was a perfect end.

30 mile bike trip

Well, Kristina and I decided to ride our bikes to Harriett Island in St. Paul. We left from our house and journeyed down to the river bottom. The trees and the river were breathtaking. We came across a few people, but most of the time, we traveled alone. The trail is packed dirt. Once we got to Harriett Island we had to find Will's brick and just enjoy the view. The trip took us about three hours. We a little tired and very sweaty from the trip. In Minnesota not only do we get the heat, but we also get the humidity. It was a great ride and I will treasure it for a long time.

Another photo of Kristian. This is the Minnesota River.

30 mile bike trip

Here is Kristina under the 494 bridge. We loved the supports for the bridge. Very dramatic. Unfortunately with all the trees, it was a little dark.

30 mile bike trip

This was taken when we reached the town of Mendota. The Mississippi River is on my right along with the Mendota Bridge.

30 mile bike trip

Kristina and I reached Harriett Island. What a great ride. On the way we had three deer run in front of us down by the river. It was great. It was such a fun ride, with very sore bottoms when we were through. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

This is it!

I look forward to this view on the bike trail every time I go. In the distance is a metal and wood bridge for pedestrians, the bike trail is on the left and the water is the Minnehaha Creek. This brings joy to my heart every time that I am there.

Beauty is all around

I was able to go on a 15 mile bike ride this morning before church and finally remembered to bring my camera. This is part of the trail that I love to ride on. One the right is Minnehaha Creek.

Planting.

Today was a successful day in that I was able to get all my annuals planted. Hopefully by the end of the week, I will have the veggies planted. I plan on planting tomatoes and cucumbers so far. I already have spinach, lettuce and peas planted.

Unbelievable!!!

This maybe will sound strange to most, but this is a exciting day for me. When I was a little girl, I watched this movie and it scared me and was so intriquing that I have wanted to be able to watch it again. As I have learned that it is hard to find I had put it aside, but today while I was surfing the web I found it. It is called 'The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T' by Dr. Seuss. I cannot believe that I have found it. UNBELIEVALBE

Glorious Day!

My first bike ride of the season. Decided to bike to Minnehaha Falls and then went around Lake Nokomis. The ride was great and even better that they resurfaced the trail around the lake. Minnehaha Falls was alive with water. Today was sunny and almost 70 degrees. All in all I biked 7 miles, with only a few aches.
